SystemVue 2010.01 Release Notes

What's New in SV2010.01 - Enhancements and Benefits

SystemVue 2010.01 is a significant new release, completing custom design flows for C++ and HDL lifecycles, linking to RF design flows, and delivering several new products for 4G wireless developers.

SystemVue - Core Platform (W1461)

  • NEW: OFDM Reference Model Set
    • Supports generic OFDM modeling in many wireless standards, including 802.11a,b,g,n
    • Functions as a free, built-in IP reference library for custom RX/TX signal creation & analysis, verification, and measurement equipment
  • Improved: Zigbee Reference Model Set
    • Full Transmit and Receive blockset for Zigbee, with examples showing BER studies.  Essentially a free baseband verification library.
  • NEW: Export of compiled .DLL
    • Export your blocks as a compiled Win32 .DLL for reuse in other programs, including ADS Ptolemy (version 2009 or later). This export capability is included free with the core SystemVue platform for all users. 
    • Leverage your IP and Agilent's IP into other environments and design flows.
    • The exported .DLL executable files use your existing SystemVue W1461 license as they execute in other environments.
    • The W1718 C++ Model Generator (see new products, below) removes the licensing and exposes the source code, for maximum leverage and transportability. 
  • Improved C++ Modelbuilder
    • Support all types of input/output ports: real and complex, scalar and matrix
    • Support for Envelope and user defined Fixed Point model types
    • Supports matrix type parameters.

SystemVue - Optional Libraries

New Products

  • New Product: W1718 C++ Code Generator
    • Builds on the SystemVue Modelbuilder infrastructure
    • Converts a SystemVue schematic into license-free C++ source code, for easy user modification, integration with other design flows, and compilation on other OS's
    • Works for most signal processing blocks, and all user-defined C++ models.  Does not directly support blocks from premium add-on libraries, such as WiMAX, Adaptive EQ, etc
    • Useful for linking to the Spectra CX platform from PrismTech, for SCA-compliant software-defined radio waveform development
  • New Product: W1715 MIMO Channel Builder
    • Provides WINNER and WINNER-II MIMO channel models for 4G 
    • Ability to import 2D farfield antenna pattern data (measured, or from 3DEM tools), for realistic MIMO degradations based on actual implementation
  • New Product: W1716 Digital Pre-Distortion Builder
    • Wizard-based extraction of nonlinear behavioral model using live 4G vector-modulated signals
    • Creates a digital pre-distortion network with built-in crest-factor reduction to achieve 20dB improvement in ACP for 4G
    • Interacts with either test equipment or simulations to reduce memory effects and improve Throughput, EVM

Issues in SystemVue 2009.08 Fixed in SystemVue 2010.01

  • The documented Model Parameters for LTE models that are schematic based subnetworks have information missing for parameters that are of the 'Enumeration' type
    • Problem: Though most LTE models are C++ models, some are actually schematic subnetworks. These subnetwork models have an error in their documented Model Parameters table. The problem is for parameters that are of the 'Enumeration' type. The listed enumerated options mnenomics are missing from the parameter 'Description' field.
    • Status: Resolved.
  • Advanced Part Properties page - dropdown combo-boxes sometimes ignore user's most recent setting
    • Problem: Enumerated part properties are displayed in the Advanced Options / Properties window using dropdown combo-boxes. The most-recently entered value is sometimes ignored, especially when there are many properties displayed.
    • Status: Resolved.
  • Currently, only DataSets can "dive into" MathLang {cell-array} variables
    • Problem: Tables do not fully support cell-array variables.
    • Status: Resolved.

Known Issues in SystemVue 2010.01

  • ReadFile model does not error out when a non-ASCII data file is used
    • Problem: When a non-ASCII data file is used with the ReadFile model option for the ReadFile part the model will interpret the data as ASCII data, even if the data is binary. The results will be meaningless.
    • Work Around: Be sure to use only ASCII data with the ReadFile model option for the ReadFile part.
  • Equation values shown on the schematic might not be current, but the correct values will be used during simulation
    • Problem: This problem is more likely to occur (but not always) when more than on Analysis is used in the workspace. The problem is that the schematic equation variable value displayed on the schematic is based on the last run Analysis. Thus, if you have two Analyses in your workspace with Analysis values that are used in equations whose values are displayed on the schematic, then after running the first analysis, the schematic value represent the state of the first Analysis values. When you run the second Analysis, even though its Analysis values result in different equation values for us on the schematic, the displayed schematic values are not updated until the end of the second Analysis. Thus, during the second Analysis you observation of the schematic value is not in synch with the current Analysis being run. However, the correct values are used for the Analysis.
    • Work Around: Before running the second Analysis, double click on the Analysis to open its dialog box and select OK. This will force its associated schematic values to be synchronized with that Analysis. Then run the Analysis.
  • Custom model UIs ignore "Use Default" settings
    • Problem: Some part models display custom user interface panels. These settings windows currently ignore the Use Default flag of the part parameters; that is, the GUI will display the value which has be entered, even if the parameter is marked to use the default value instead (on the Advanced Options / Properties window). Models affected: Sink, LTE, RF_Link, VSA_MIMO_Source, and VSA_MIMO_Sink, but not MathLang or HDL, which display parameter settings via a grid window.
    • Work Around: Avoid enabling Use Default for the part parameters which are affected.
  • Automatic HDL Cosimulation for fixed point designs that are multi-rate will not work
    • Problem: This is a known limitation for the Automatic HDL Cosimulation feature for fixed point designs. There is no Automatic HDL Cosimulation for multi-rate fixed point design.
    • Work Around: Multi-rate fixed point designs do work properly with HDL Code Generation. With HDL code thus generated, HDL cosimulation can then be used with that HDL code with appropriate up and down samplers inserted before and after the HDL Cosim part.
  • VSA 89600 Support in Connected Solutions/Instrument Link

    Caution

    Since the OS platforms supported by VSA 89600 software depend on the version of 89600 software, make sure you have the correct version of VSA 89600 installed on your platform.

  • Windows 7 File Access Permission: Do not run "ESG SignalDownloader Example.wsv" example directly from its installation folder on Windows 7 due to the file access permission settings, please copy this example from Examples\Instruments under your SystemVue's installation folder to some local folder that you have complete access permission.
