How do I find my CPUID and Host Name from the command line?

Listed is some helpful information on how to obtain the necessary CPU ID information needed for codeword generation. These commands should be executed in the root directory.

Windows Operating System

Windows 7 or later:

Click on Start and type cmd in the search field and hit Enter At the prompt, type getmac /v /fo list

 

CPU ID/Host ID is the Physical Address displayed on your machine of the LAN adapter.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Connection Name:   Local Area Connection:  (no numbers after this)
Network Adapter:     Intel<R> Ethernet Connection I218-LM
Physical Address:     00-13-05-E1-A8-DF

Transport Name:      \Device\Tcpip_{2544799D-F6E8-4506-90A9-42EABDD395D1}

 

Versions earlier than Windows 7:

 

Select Start > Run and enter the following command:  cmd /k ipconfig /all

CPU ID/Host ID is the Physical Address displayed on your machine of the LAN adapter.

Windows 10:

Hardware Keys

 

If you are using a hardware key, also known as a dongle:

Sentinel Key:  obtain the flex id number located on the key

Example:  B2850127 or 36C52866                                              8 digits

Dallas Dongle: obtain the flex id number located on the key

Example: 8-5E700059B957                                                        14 digits

USB Dongle: obtain the flex id number located on the key

Example: 9-5E3ACF55                                                               10 digits

Example: 10-389FE8C8                                                                     11 digits

 

LINUX - RedHat

Host Name:  enter in command: /bin/hostname

LAN Card Ethernet ID:  enter in command:  /sbin/ifconfig -a eth0

 

The command will return information similar to this:

Ethernet Address: 00:60:94:e6:37:8e (also known as hardware address)

SUN Operating System

  1. In Sun, go to the shell prompt.
  2. Enter the command:  lmutil lmhost –flexid
  3. Read the FlEXlm host Id of your machine, usually it looks like the line listed below (in bold) :

The FLEXlm host ID of this machine is "FLEXID=839b5f4d"
